"I'm starting to think that you might know more about me than you let on." He gave a broad smile that showed too many teeth.
"Have you not considered that I do indeed know everything about you?"
The Monolith In The Alleyway
A desolate alleyway dimly lit, points to an aura that I cannot seem to liberate myself from. A vacuum that pulls me closer and closer until its orbit I simply cannot escape. Gentle breezes graze my lips as a cold air takes hold of my appendages, cold but so inviting and it eggs me on further.
Step by step my strides lose their rhythm creating an audio that is almost chaotic in nature, giving the living surroundings all the proof they need to acknowledge my nervousness. Down and down the alley I travel feeling the uneven cobble beneath my tired feet biting away at the soreness that was already threatening to drop me to my knees.
Faint laughter rings in a tone of humility and inspiration, drawing me into an uncontested charge forward like an automaton undertaking the very task it was designed for. The exit seems far and just as dimly lit as before but onwards I travel to feed my curiosity of the dark shadows that haunted this very place. Not many dare wander down this place, those who do rarely come back and never like they once were.
Rambling whispers and uncertain mumbles, those who escape the shadows of the alley derail in a sense of limitless turmoil describing horrors that are indescribable to that of any sane man or woman I have ever known. No functioning living being dares travel here alone but alas I am too driven to be afraid, I have lost everything and the alley is the only place I can go.
Pit... pat. The soles of my feet hit the dampened path until a monolith guards the joining of the surrounding streets, screaming in a way that only the extra-ordinary can ever explain. New reverberations of sound protrude from every angle, attacking me as the prey it so desperately seeks and from this intrepid sound a low growl echoed from a beast following its own familiar ritual.
Grunts were all that were audible at first and a shadow of a figure that was distinctly not human in nature although its bipedal stance may suggest otherwise. Snarls of anger from a territorial daemon that guarded its personal province like it were the only thing it cared about.
"Brave young thing, no where to go, no one to know where you are or rather where you will be..." The low thrum beat against my ear drum.
All courage once within me had dissipated and was just as cold as the air surrounding me. Deep breaths find solitude in my mouth without fear of escaping due to my inability to utter a word.
"Lost and so alone, you have nothing but the air I let you have to stay alive." Its voice was a rhythmic drum, leading the procession to a tension driven crescendo.
"I'm starting to think that you might know more about me than you let on." I finally spoke. Advancing from the shadows, it gave a broad smile that showed too many teeth that appeared to be made of marble doused in a viscous dark liquid.
"Have you not considered that I do indeed know everything about you?" Its eyes pieced my soul but offered me solace, as much as I wanted to run I just fell deeper and deeper under its trance.
